Riverview Estates wooded riverfront

A neighborhood
built to last

Riverview Estates was born in 1968, when a small group of friends from Avondale — drawn by the opening of the Atlanta Athletic Club on Medlock Bridge Road — purchased 62.9 acres of Chattahoochee riverfront farmland and swamp. What was once a flood plain was carefully transformed: the swampland became the lake you see today on the south side of Riverview Drive, and the land along the river was turned into open pasture. The first homes were occupied in late 1971.

The Riverview Associates homeowners association held its first meeting in March 1976. Over the decades that followed, the neighborhood grew into 151 homes of diverse architectural styles — and developed a reputation for the kind of continuity that's genuinely rare. Roughly fourteen families have loved Riverview Estates so much they've sold one home here only to buy another.

Life along the Chattahoochee

🌳

Riverfront Park

A large wooded common area along the banks of the Chattahoochee River gives Riverview residents access to one of metro Atlanta's great natural corridors — right in their own backyard. The park traces back to the neighborhood's founding, when the original developers preserved the riverfront land rather than build on it. It remains one of Riverview's most defining and beloved features.

🛝

Neighborhood Playground

A dedicated playground for the youngest residents of Riverview Estates, centrally located and available for all neighborhood families to enjoy.
